In collaboration with harpist Rebecca El-Saleh I created visual assets for their album Hold the Edges. This album explores the edges of self and discovering gender identity beyond the binary. We explored 3 central themes of the album include edges, letting go & holding on and soft vs hard. Edges embodies the feeling of being confined within ridgid constructs, we showcase this by creating harsh edges around them and their words. Hold the Edges explores letting go of past identity while holding tight to old ideas of self through hand portraiture. These portraits and use of hands throughout the creative relates directly to the physical experience of grasping to hold on. We explore the softness of self with the hardness of the world by combining textures that obscure oneself and create the edges that confine us. These themes weave throughout all the creative to tell this story.
We collaborated with Chris Royal King from This Will Destroy You to create the video for their first single Hold the Edges.
